Lunar Landing - in 100 words

On July 20th, 1969, commander Neil Armstrong and astronaut Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on the surface of the moon. The event, which was watched by 500 million people, was a pivotal moment in the history of space travel. The journey from the Earth to the moon took about four days, during which a multi stage rocket traveled 384,000 kilometers to get to Earth’s only natural satellite. Though 1969 marked the first manned moon landing, unmanned Russian space craft had been landing on the moon since 1966. These landings, however, were mostly done in secret.
